Robots That Vacuum and Mop

Robots that mop and vacuum offer the convenience of cleaning both dry debris (dust dirt, grit) and wet mess (spills and stains) in one session without having to swap out devices. They can also save space compared to two separate units, especially in smaller living spaces.

A good combination bot must be able to navigate well and have excellent obstacles avoidance. Look for models that automatically empty their bins and fill up their water tank, and machine-wash their mopping pads from a dedicated dock.

1. Eufy S1 Pro

It's among the easiest robots to install that we've tested. Unpacking the S1 Pro is simple, and an easy-to-follow guide will have you running with a clean, complete dust bag, floor solution for hard floors and water tank in a matter of minutes.

The S1 Pro is a powerful small machine that can cleans up a mess and vacuums well too. Its mops spin at high speeds and exert 2.2 pounds (1kg) of force, allowing for quick removal of dirt, pet hair, and dried sticky spills. The vacuum cleaner comes with four power settings, a range of brushes and attachments, and an intuitive app that lets you choose the type of cleaning you'd like for each room.

You could, for instance request the robot to clean the kitchen and the living room thoroughly, but leave the bedroom to itself. The S1 Pro has excellent front collision sensors and smart navigation technology. It is able to detect small obstacles that other models are unable to. The only problem is that it tends to crash into walls and objects at full speed. However, a quick look at the history of cleaning on the app will show you exactly what the robot has completed, where it's moving, and what obstacles it has encountered or avoided.

The docking station has a handy LCD screen that indicates the time when maintenance is required, such as emptying debris and cleaning the water tank that is dirty. It's also capable of mixing detergent automatically into the water tank, by using a 600ml bottle filled with Eufy's own solution.

Both the S1 Pro vacuum and mop have plenty of run-time, with the mop capable of operating for an 184-minute runtime in Quiet mode and the vacuum capable of running for 136 minutes in normal mode before needing to recharge or return to the base to refill. You can view the full cleaning details in the app, which is intuitively laid out and easily understood however we would like to be able distinguish between a vacuum only or a vacuum/mop clean when examining a cleaned area in the cleaning history.

2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra

The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra is the most recent version of the company's flagship robot vacuum and mop. This year's model has two agitators built into its mopping pad. This improves the cleaning capabilities of carpets with this model. The S8 Pro Ultra has an improved suction power which allows it to remove smaller hairs and other particles other robotic cleaners might miss.

This Roborock model, just like the other two I tried it has infrared and a reactive 3D obstacle avoidance technology that helps it overcome obstacles like walls, furniture and other obstacles. The S8 Pro Ultra goes one step further and incorporates a dual-camera that can identify objects, determining whether they are walls or other surfaces. It then can automatically alter its path and clean them without missing a beat.

It's the most expensive model I've tried however it also comes with the most features. Its sleek, angular design is striking and only has three physical buttons that include the power button which can also restart cleaning; a mop-only button that doubles as a child lock; and a home button that can bring the robot vacuum that vacuums and mops back to its dock. The hinged lid opens up to reveal a 350ml dustbin as well as a 200ml tank of water. The water tank will empty itself and the bin auto vacuum and mop-filling.

The only issue I have found with this model is that the VibraRise mop pad mount isn't removable. Although you can change the mopping cloth (if it's required) but it's a challenge to remove the mount to wash it manually. I've observed that any soft carpet the robot crosses will come into contact with the Velcro-like fastener system on the mount, which could cause abrasions.

The S8 Pro Ultra is equipped with a range of smart features including support for Google Home and Amazon Alexa. You can configure and manage these using the Roborock app which is also the home of its maps and advanced mopping settings. The app also lets you to schedule cleanings, monitor the life of batteries and maintenance on components. However, you'll have to go through a few hurdles to allow voice control with this model, which is a shame considering the quality of its performance.

3. Dreame X40

The Dreame X40 is an industry-leading robot vacuum and mop with incredible suction power, sophisticated mowing capabilities, and ingenuity features. Its intelligent design allows for customized and efficient cleaning while reducing time.

The X40 is the first robotic vacuum cleaner that can deliver 12,000 Pascals of cleaning power, which makes it one of the best alternatives available. This powerful vacuum cleans up the dry mess, which includes pet hair and crumbs. It comes with a mop of high quality that cleans hard floors without the need for pads. Additionally the X40 is quiet in operation, only producing occasional squeaks of sound when switching modes or when completing self-maintenance tasks.

Another notable feature is the X40's expandable and liftable side brush which lets it get into difficult-to-access corners as well as clean furniture such as table and chairs' legs. The robot is also able to reach under furniture with low profile, making it an excellent choice for small apartments or condos. The side brush also automatically swivels downwards when it detects wet spots. This is a nice feature that helps the X40 to avoid causing damage to floors by the frequent back-and-forth movement.

Contrary to other robots which only focus on one task, the X40 is capable of performing both vacuuming and mopping simultaneously or separately. It can also be programmed to eliminate areas with carpet and mop only hard floors or vice versa. It can be controlled via the Dreame App or Alexa, Siri, or Google Home to ensure smooth voice-controlled operation.

The app is simple to use and intuitive and the X40 has many smart features that are easy to install. Users can program the X40 for cleaning at specific times. It can also be adjusted to adjust suction power, change modes, view maps and floor plans, and manage mopping settings. The X40 will also track its progress, and alert you when it's done.

The X40 is easy to maintain and comes with numerous convenient features, making it a great choice for busy families. The docking station automatically empty the trash bin into a 3.2 L bin, cleans mop pads and refills them with clean water and cleaning solution. It also can detect the moment when the mop pad is at its capacity to the max and notify you of the situation prior to it bursting.

4. L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a high-end robot that is among the most expensive models available and comes with a lot of additional features that distinguish it from. The mops come with a brand new feature called Smart DuoScrub. It utilizes two mops that are high-speed to clean floors more thoroughly than the traditional method, and it comes with an impressive suction power of 7,000Pa. This is more than the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra or Ecovacs Deebot T20 Omni, and it can vacuum up pet hair and small dirt particles and also pick up spills and wet spots.

The mops are cleaned and dried at the base station every time they are used. This is a great feature because it prevents mould and unpleasant odours from building up in the storage. It also makes the mop system more efficient. This is a feature we haven't seen in other robot mop or autonomous vacuum models. It could be a great method to keep your home clean longer.

There are a lot of options, including the option to schedule cleaning times and adjust preferences. These settings can be adjusted via the app or direct buttons on the device itself. The app is simple to use and has a lot of options to customize the cleaning process, and there are many features that other robots don't have - such as the Clean Genius mode that automatically increases suction power whenever it detects dust particles, instead of relying on a manual setting.

The L20 Ultra is also one of the most stylish robots we've seen on market, with metallic and white colors that is elegant and stylish. It is a little heavier at 4kg than some of the other robots listed on this list but it's not excessively heavy. It feels solid and well-built. The mopping is also well-designed, and the double rotating mops work well on hard floors as well as in corners. They can also extend up to 2mm baseboards thanks to the MopExtend feature which is a nice touch.
