It's thus susceptible to getting stuck on socks and shoes, and it couldn't navigate rooms with lots of people efficiently during our tests. Also, it doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of an area.

It's still a good value for those whose office or home has a lot of unfinished floors and you want to save money. It's also quiet and works while you're at work or at school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming feature that's available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes that don't stay on very well and can't take on dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle however. If you need to mop, the mopping pad can be swapped for one that is wet in just a few seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to mop floors. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it easy to clean and efficient in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also has self-emptying dustbins as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robotic hoover for carpets, however it falls behind some competitors when it comes to deep cleaning.

It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after vacuuming, a feature that we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

With a sleek, circular design that looks more like a normal Roomba rather than the boxy units this robot vacuum and mop combo is one of the most appealing looking in our tests. iRobot's latest flagship model also is its most advanced model, with features that are cutting-edge like enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot vacuum cleaner best that is able to wash mop pads).

It's also the only robot vacuum that vacuums and mops vacuum/mop to score the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our tests. This is due to a mix of high-tech sensors, including a structured lighting system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that is fully autonomously refill and empty its base station, and it has an its own self-cleaning mop pads.

Like other iRobot models like the X40 is user-friendly, offering a simple mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vacuum works and alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home in accordance with the amount of dirt they are.

If you own a larger home, it's worth selecting a robot that comes with the option of cleaning zones or spots. This lets you instruct the robot on which part of your house needs to be cleaned using the app or voice command. A stair mode can be useful if you have a number of furniture. It can be used to design cleaning schedules, or to set up the spot-cleaning. You can also use it to rank your most filthy areas to improve performance. The app also grants access to a host of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot cleaner vacuums, meaning it is able to reach corners and underneath furniture better.
