The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests on bare floors and are especially adept in cleaning dog hair. However, they have several flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. One of the flaws of the Q5 is its navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's also prone to become stuck on shoes and socks and could not navigate rooms with lots of people well in our tests. It also doesn't come with cameras that let it see the corners of an area.

It's still a good value for those whose office or home has a lot of unfinished flooring and you're looking to save some money. Additionally, it's quiet and can work while you're at work or school. The only thing it's missing that you don't get in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. And it's less effective at mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on very well and can't handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with a self-emptying dock, though. If you need to clean the mopping pad, it can be swapped for one that is wet in just a few minutes.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to mop floors. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it simple to clean and effective at tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also has a self-emptying dustbin, powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robot vacuum cleaners reviews hoover for carpets, though it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensors to keep away from obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the layout of your home over time to offer better cleaning. You can modify its cleaning schedule and set up zones using the app that is well-designed. It has a battery life that is comparable to other models.

It is possible to instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and extend them when in a carpeted area, which helps prevent cross-contamination. Its obstacle detection was excellent and it stayed clear of fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles cables.

It's more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, an onboard dustbin that automatically empties into its base, and also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is a feature we haven't seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

With an elegant, circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba rather than the boxes This robot vacuum and mop combo is one of the most attractive looking models in our evaluations. iRobot's latest flagship model also is among the most intelligent and has advanced features like enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).

It's the only robot vacuum/mop that scored a perfect 10 in our tests, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, including cameras, a structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mop mops.

The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is easy to use. It comes with an intuitive mobile app interface that is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that it's loud, which can be an issue if you use it in the morning before work, or at night when you attempt to sleep.

It's also somewhat expensive, although it's not as pricey as Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are equally capable and better-looking. If you're willing to live with a bit more noise and some additional cost it's a powerful two-in-one that will please almost everyone.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot vacuum and mop. It has a range of advanced features that make you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device that is similar to Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It comes with a multi-function dock that will automatically empty the vacuum's bin, refills the water tank, and washes and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot uses a combination of LIDAR and structured light to map out floor plans and spot obstacles, navigating more intelligently than some of its premium rivals. It also has a camera mounted on the front for real-time hazard detection but this was not reliable in our tests and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.

Its vacuum cleaner has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to complete the task. It also comes with an attribute called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house based on how dirty those areas tend to be.

For larger houses, it's worth opting for models with spot or zone cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean one particular area of your house via the app or voice controls. If you have lots of furniture, a stair mode is also a good option. Additionally the recharge and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to pick up right where it left off is great for busy families.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is more intelligent than its price would suggest. It is a good vacuum cleaner, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with only one pad and a reciprocating motion that is more efficient than most of the robot mop cleaners that we've tested. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and a self emptying, washable base.

The well-designed iRobot application guides you through an initial mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. You can use it to make cleaning schedules, set up an area for cleaning or to prioritize your most filthy rooms for better performance. The app also gives access to a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, which means it can get to corners and underneath furniture better. It features a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction and sophisticated combs that remove pet hair. You can also set up a spot cleaning that scours a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and less expensive alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed like adorable eyes. It does a good job vacuuming but is more prone to get caught on low thresholds and is a bit more noisy than the other top robotic vacuums we've tried. It also comes with an app that is less intuitive, and a smaller base station that does not double as a bin for emptying.
