Window Sash Repairs

Make sure to check the sashes of your windows regularly for signs of damage, mildew and mold. If you catch these issues early you will save money on future conservatory repairs.

The sash is an interior framing that can be moved vertically either up or down in windows that open. This article will demonstrate how to carry out a few simple sash repair double glazing.

Weather Stripping

Wood window sashes add the classic look to your home. When properly maintained, they will last for years. Cut the cord/chain and then attach it in Step 6 above. You can use either nail, hammer or screws. However nails are less likely than screws to cause damage.

It is best to keep the weights that came with the original counterbalance unless you have purchased a kit that will replace the old counterbalance. It's not too expensive to purchase them from a salvage store and they'll be simple to install once you've got the sash open. Based on the size of your window, one or two sash weights may be needed to keep it in an open position.
