Its suction of 2,500Pa was weaker than other robots, but it was still quiet and moved quickly. It did not mop and its clean pad was difficult to attach. It also wasn't able to handle dried-on dirt.

Its app is a little basic, lacking advanced features like multiple cleaning modes and automated scheduling. It works with Alexa but its voice controls aren't intuitive or responsive. It's also difficult when it comes to navigating its way back to the charging station following a run -- other robots can follow a previous route or sensibly follow a wall until they reach their home, but the RX3 simply bumbles around until it quits and then sends a message about failure to your phone.

We also had issues with the intelligent features of the device, namely its mapping feature and the digital stay-out zones. While it did a great job of avoiding our shoes and furniture legs, it got easily hung up by cables and socks, and couldn't handle the tassels that adorn rugs. We didn't include the Scout RX3 in our Best Buy list. The Scout RX3 offers a good price and impressive performance. It's worth considering as an alternative to traditional uprights.
