The Best Robot Hoover

The best robot vacuum cleaner and mop robot hoover can clean and mop without requiring your attention, and it will leave your floors clean. Its low cost and features that are high-end (such as dirt detection) are pluses.

They do have some flaws, however, that prevent them from being our first choice. For instance, the Q5's navigation doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance which means it's susceptible to become entangled in socks and shoes and couldn't navigate tight spaces very well in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of a room.

It's still a great option for those who want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot, and you have a bare-floored home or office. Plus, it's very quiet and you can use it when you're at work or going to school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes that don't hold on very well and can't take on dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. If you need to clean the mopping pad, it can be changed for an awe-inspiring one in a matter of seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum cleaner that can also sweep floors. Its smart cleaning maps and fluid navigation make it simple to clean, and effective in dealing with larger particles like pet hair. It also comes with a powerful suction and an best automatic vacuum bin for emptying. It's the best robot cleaner robotic hoover for carpets but it's not as good as other hoovers when it comes to deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensors that help it avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the layout of your home over time and provide more efficient cleaning. You can modify its cleaning schedule and customize zones through the well-designed app. Its battery life is average when compared to other models.

When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted space, you can tell it to remove and extend its mop. This can help avoid cross-contamination. The flex arm is perfect for getting under furniture that is low and along baseboards. It's not as efficient on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to complete an entire house, finishing with only 66 percent of its battery left. It did a great cleaning job on various flooring and rooms with different flooring types, including some area rug. Its obstacle detection was top-of-the-line and it was nimbly avoiding fake dog socks, turds, shoes and cables.

It's a little more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however it offers superior suction, an onboard dustbin that automatically empties into its base, and also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after it vacuums this feature, which hasn't been seen in other robot vacuum/mop combinations.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

With an elegant, circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba rather than the boxy units, this mop and robot vacuum is among the most appealing looking in our reviews. The latest model from iRobot is also its smartest. It comes with advanced features, like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company’s best robot vacuum that can wash mop pads on its own).

It's also the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our tests. This is thanks to a mix of modern sensors, including a restructured light system, camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that is fully self-refill and empty its base station, and boasts an industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It has a simple mobile application interface, and it integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only downside is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This can be a problem in mornings prior to work or at night when you're trying to sleep.

It's also a bit costly but not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally capable and better looking. If you're willing to live with a little more noise and some extra cost, this is a very capable two-in-one that should delight most.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with a lot of advanced features to help you get rid of your chores. Like Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that can take care of both vacuuming and mopping, with a multi-function dock that automatically empties the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank, cleans and dry its mop pads.

The smart robot employs an array of LIDAR and structured light to draw out floor plans and spot obstacles, making it more efficient than some of its premium rivals. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards, though this wasn't foolproof in our tests and was often confused with power cords or obstructions.

Its vacuum has a high maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to get the job done. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vacuum works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house according to the degree of dirt they are.

If you have a bigger home, it's worth choosing a model that has spot or zone cleaning mode. This allows you to inform the robot of which area of your home needs to be cleaned by using the app or voice control. If you have lots of furniture, a stairway mode is also useful. Additionally the recharge and resume function that allows your robot vacuum to continue where it left off is great for busy families.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more advanced than the price suggests. It is a great job cleaning, removing 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with one pad, which uses a reciprocating motion that is cleaner than the other robot mop cleaners we've examined. And it's highly self-sufficient with a full-featured application and a self-emptying, washable base.

The well-designed iRobot application guides you through an initial mapping session that collects data about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you set on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or to create an automatic vacuum cleaner spot-clean. It can also be used to it to rank your most filthy areas for better performance. The app has a range of features, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

It can also reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It has an impressive 8000 Pascal suction, as well as clever combs for removing pet hair. You can also create a spot-clean that thoroughly cleans a particular area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and cheaper alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive design, akin to Dolce & Gabbana.
