The word "evolution" originates from Latin for unrolling or revealing has been used in many different ways as the concept has evolved, both in science and in other fields. Early evolutionists like Erasmus Darwin (Charles’s grandfather) and Jean Baptiste de Lamarck believed that species were predetermined to change into another species. The term"transmutation" was coined by Lamarck's student embryologist Etienne Geoffroy Saint Hilaire, to describe this idea. Charles Lyell, in his Principles of Geology, published in 1833, criticized the concept of evolution and borrowed the term from Geoffroy's student.

Evolutionary biologists define evolution more recently as a process by which living things develop characteristics to improve their chances of surviving or conceiving offspring. OECs are less well known however they are as enthusiastic about their beliefs as YECs. OECs believe that the universe and all life on Earth are billions of years old and they believe that evolution is a myth.

Both types of creationism reject that scientific principles such as natural selection and biogenesis can explain how life began on Earth. STR claims that it has the backing of 4,000 families and members. Its mission, it states, is to rid the world of what it calls "atheist materialism" which portrays a negative view for students. It also hopes to combat the influence of American Creationists in the United States. A survey of trainee biology teachers revealed that a majority do not believe in the concept of evolution. The reasons for this aren't entirely clear, but could include religious beliefs or the absence of creation scientists in the United States.

The KACR achieved many things through its seminars and lectures in the past. It publishes a bimonthly magazine, 에볼루션 코리아 Creation, and has published books. One of them is a textbook on the natural sciences with a creationist viewpoint, which attracted the attention of college communities. In 1991, a professor, together with a minister began teaching Creation Science at one university. It is still taught to students today.

On August 7 and 8, 1993, coinciding with the World Expo opened in Daejeon, KACR held a second International Symposium on Creation Research. Six foreign lecturers, including ICR's John Morris and Steven Austin addressed an audience of several thousand.
