Top Rated Robot Vacuums

A robot vacuum will keep your floors tidy enough to reduce the frequency of hoovering manually. Find one that has excellent navigation, is able to clean stairs and corners, and has a large dust bin that needs emptying only every few times.

1. Roomba iRobot i3+ from iRobot EVO

The i3+ EVO and its i3 EVO sibling the i3 EVO, are identical robots, but they differ in that the i3+ has self-emptying features. That makes the i3+ a great option for those who want a hands-off, fully automated cleaning experience, but don't mind taking the time to empty their robot's trash bin as it gets full.

Both robots are proficient in removing dirt and dust particles on floors and carpets and can maneuver around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software makes a smart maps of your home to help the i3+ navigate and clean efficiently. However, unlike the i7+ or other top-rated robots we tested the i3+ does not have any obstacle-avoidance features and therefore it could get stuck on things like power cords or socks, and it can have difficulty navigating across surface transitions like from hardwood to rug.

iRobot recommends that you tidy the area around the i3+ EVO vacuums prior to using it. This includes putting away any toys or other clutter it might come across. It's also an excellent idea to keep the bin and filter clean so that they do not become blocked by dirt. When the i3+ EVO's internal bin is full or its battery is low, it returns to its docking station and automatically empties its trash into the station's external dustbin and continues cleaning where it left off. The battery's lifespan is around an hour and a half of continuous usage. It takes about three hours to charge.

2. IRobot Roomba i7+

The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the top model in the iRobot flagship line and has the most up-to-date features. It's self-charging, self-navigating, and -- the most important feature of all -- it has an auto-emptying dustbin, which eliminates one of the main sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.

The Roomba I7+ can better map rooms with Imprint Smart Mapping. It also integrates with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning tasks and control your robot using voice or via the app.

In our testing, the i7+ was more agile and faster than our second-placed model which was the eufy RoboVac G30, and it picked up large pieces of pet hair from all surfaces kinds, including carpeting. Its greatest advantage over the Eufy is the self-emptying bin that removes major maintenance sources and lowers the cost of recurring maintenance.

We were also amazed by the i7+'s compatibility with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services that we used to instruct the robot to begin, stop or pause its house cleaning robot (lt.dananxun.cn) routines and move around the room and sweep the area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ with these services. Once connected we were able to give the i7+ voice commands, such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options to manage the i7+'s preferences and monitoring its performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

This tiny Dyson model is an all-sports car in a world of vacuums with cords that feel like minivans and buses. It's powerful enough to replace a stand-up vacuum in the majority of homes, but it is also compact enough to fit on a coffee table or bookcase.

The V10 is powered with a 7-cell energy-dense Lithium-ion battery that produces power without fading for 60 minutes. Its advanced whole-machine filtration system traps allergens and releases cleaner air back into your home. The cleaning head is specially designed to drive bristles made of nylon that are stiff into carpet to collect large crumbs and fine dust. It has three suction modes to meet the task that is being completed. It is able to swiftly change between handheld and floor vacuum and vice versa.

This model has a dock which charges the Dyson to 100 percent in 3.5 hours. It also offers an easy access to two attachments and a handheld. This is a huge improvement over earlier Dysons, which take a long time to charge and are difficult to store.

The V10's main drawback is its limited running time. Its claims on the market that it has up to 60 minutes of running time are a bit misleading as CR's tests have shown. This is an average not an extraordinary time to run a battery-powered cordless vac. This is enough time to sweep a typical-sized home, but not enough to reach every spot. (A second run is usually sufficient). This model has its own advantages however: it's light and more mobile than previous Dysons cordless models and its ability to vacuum is noticeably superior for carpet floors with low pile.

4. iRobot Roomba 694

The 694 is a standard robot vacuum that's an excellent choice for those who don't have lots of money to spend on a robot. It was able to remove most types of debris and sizes during our testing and often went over the same area many times for an extensive clean. Its flat front end helps it reach into corners and along the edges of walls which is a nice touch.

Its navigation system is smart and uses iAdapt to stay clear of obstacles and navigate your home, but it's not equipped with the mapping capability of more sophisticated models such as our top robot vacuum selections and the i3+ EVO and j7+ series. As a result, it may get stuck on things like phone cords and furniture that isn't in good condition, and often will run out of battery before making it back to its original location.

The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum bot is superior to the Roomba 694 in many ways because it has fewer components that require regular maintenance, is fitted with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, has lower costs for recurring maintenance, has more advanced automation capabilities and is better at moving itself. It also has a larger dustbin and charges quicker.

The sleek RoboVac X8 has a superior battery life than the Roomba 694. It also comes with physical boundaries strips and can be controlled by your smartphone's voice assistance. It's also more robust, has a larger motor, and is more effective on floors with bare or low-pile.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+

Samsung is a name that you see on all sorts of electronic gadgets for your home It's no surprise that they're one of the top mop and robot vacuum manufacturers. Jet Bot AI+ has an advanced onboard technology that allows to navigate and avoid obstacles.

The app provides plenty of options to personalize your robotic cleaner, including virtual barriers, mopping water levels and behavior modification docking frequency settings and more. The app is simple to use and understand as are other Samsung devices.

In our testing, the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors and handled dog hair (on carpet) quite well, clearing up 86% of it. It didn't do very well in avoiding taller items such as cords or socks. This was disappointing. It's also a bit more expensive than some of the other models we tested and could be a problem for some buyers.

The smart vacuum has an onboard camera that you can access through the app, and you can also set up a live streaming from the robot's cleaning station. This feature lets you check in on pets or kids when you're away from home. The dustbin and filter can be cleaned for quick, easy cleanup. The Jet Bot AI+ comes with a self-emptying clean station, which helps keep the bin clean and optimizes suction power.

6. Black & Decker Robot Vacuum

Black and Decker robots have been designed specifically for flooring made of hard wood. They come with a wide cleaning path and a larger dustbin that holds twice as much debris than the competition to keep the cleaning area clean for the longest time. The POWERSERIES model also comes with AutoSense, which automatically adjusts the power level depending on whether it's picking up surface dirt or embedded dirt. It also has a smart app that lets you see the virtual map and manage functions and schedules. You can also check the status of the vacuum and then send it to its dock for charging at the press of a single button. The app also lets you to customize the lights on top of the vacuum using different colors, so that you can clearly see what areas it's focusing on or where it's stuck.
